Key taks: Guidance for the ‘Conservation and Design of Historic Buildings’ in support of a Town Scheme. The Mid Bedfordshire town of Shefford has it’s origins in the 13th Century with a strong Georgian and Victorian street character from later development. A public realm improvement strategy and investment in protecting and enhancing the character of the town followed the completion of the town’s bypass. The design guide provided targeted suggestions for suitable improvements to shop fronts, signs and advertisements, roofscape, building extensions, door and windows; that would attract grant aid from the partnership authorities.
